About Kevin
Sharing A Love of Knowledge
Hi, my name is Kevin and I'm a university student at Swarthmore College (No. 3 ranked liberal arts college on US News). One of my greatest passions is working with other students and helping them achieve their greatest potential. I have been doing academic tutoring for the past three years, working with dozens of students from various international and public school students across China. Currently, I work part-time as an academic tutor and college counselor, sharing my experience of success in high school and university applications. Over the school year, I limit myself to working with a small number of select students, mostly over Zoom, to ensure the quality of my service. During summer, I offer in-person summer courses, usually enrolling 6-10 students and spanning a period of a few weeks.
My tutoring experience began in high school when I worked as a tutor of History and Economics in Dulwich College Beijing's tutoring program. As such, I am most familiar with the IGCSE and IB curriculums. Moreover, I was an active student leader and the prefect of MUN & Debating, giving me many opportunities to work with a large community of model united nations and debating enthusiasts Over the summer of my graduation, I extended my tutoring services to other schools in the Bejing region and offered university application advice following my successful application season. The list of offers I received are as follows: In the U.S.-- Swarthmore College, Claremont McKenna College, Carleton College, Haverford College, Wesleyan University, Macalester College, and Occidental College, In the U.K.-- London School of Economics, University College London, King's College London, Durham University, and the University of Manchester, and in Canada-- University of Toronto. As you can probably tell from my list, I love American liberal arts colleges and would strongly recommend students to apply to one. At Swarthmore College, I plan on double majoring in Political Science and Economics, possibly minoring in Education. Apart from academics, I am the captain of the badminton team, a teaching assistant at the department of modern languages (Chinese), a Writing Associate, an intern at the admissions office, the Chair of Academic Affairs at the Swarthmore student government. My role as a Writing Associate required extensive training in English writing and giving feedback to other students' essays with the ultimate goal of helping them improve their writing skills. At the admissions office, my work has made me very familiar with the admissions process of universities, particularly elite American liberal arts colleges. And finally, my position as the Chair of Academic Affairs gave me a seat at every meeting between senior college administrative staff and opportunities to work with the president, provost, and the heads of academic departments.
